Overview

The Department of Labour is recruiting one Pipe Fitter in the Primary Grade Semi-Skilled Technical Service. Applications close on 16 November 2026.

Position

  • Post: Pipe Fitter (1 vacancy), Grade III
  • Pay: PL 2-2025, Rs. 41,800 rising to Rs. 65,560
  • Age: over 18 and under 45 on the closing date
  • Probation: 3 years

Duties

  • Connect and repair water supply lines and drainage at the Labour Department head office and district offices.
  • Maintain the pump systems and related equipment.
  • Take on related tasks assigned by the Head of Department.

Qualifications

  • Pass at G.C.E. Ordinary Level.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 certificate in pipe fitting.
  • Experience in the field, certified for the interview.
  • Sri Lankan citizen of good character, physically and mentally fit.

Selection

A practical test (T and L joints, a valve joint, maintenance tasks) is held first, followed by a structured interview. The pass mark for the practical test is 40%.
