Overview

The Sri Lanka Institute of Textile and Apparel (SLITA), under the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, is hiring for four posts. Applications close on 29 October 2026 and are made online.

1. Assistant Director (Administration)

  • External: UGC-recognised degree in management, law or human resource management, plus at least 1 year of post-qualification experience in a relevant field
  • Internal: the same qualification and at least 5 years at junior management level (JM 1-2) in SLITA
  • Age: 22 to 45 (no upper limit for internal applicants)
  • Salary: MM 1-1-2025: Rs. 91,690 – 10 x 2,480 – 15 x 3,450 – 168,240. Basic pay for 2026 is Rs. 81,710 plus government-approved allowances

2. Assistant Engineer (Mechanical Workshop)

  • External (any one): (1) engineering degree in mechanical, civil, electronic or electrical from a UGC-recognised university; (2) Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka; (3) engineering science proficiency certificate at NVQ 7 or above; (4) NVQ 6 or above (NDT, HNDE, NDES or equivalent) plus 5 years of experience; (5) NVQ 5 or above plus 10 years of experience
  • Internal: qualification (1) or (2) above and at least 5 years as Management Assistant – Technical (MA 2-2) Grade II in SLITA
  • Age: 22 to 45 (no upper limit for internal applicants)
  • Salary: JM 1-2-2025: Rs. 74,010 – 10 x 1,360 – 18 x 2,040 – 124,330. Basic pay for 2026 is Rs. 66,781 plus allowances

Preference goes to candidates with mechanical engineering qualifications.

3. Management Assistant Grade III

  • Qualifications: G.C.E. (O/L) passed in six subjects at one sitting, with credit passes (C) in four, including Sinhala/Tamil, English and Mathematics, and G.C.E. (A/L) passed in three subjects (General Common Test excluded)
  • Internal: primary level employees (skilled and unskilled) of SLITA may apply with credit passes in four of six O/L subjects (including Sinhala/Tamil, English and Mathematics) and 5 years in a permanent post in that service category
  • Age: 18 to 45 (no upper limit for internal applicants)
  • Salary: MA 1-2-2025: Rs. 46,220 – 10 x 540 – 7 x 630 – 12 x 1,080 – 12 x 1,280 – 84,350. Basic pay for 2026 is Rs. 43,312 plus allowances

4. Driver and Office Employee Grade III

  • Qualifications: G.C.E. (O/L) passed in six subjects, with credit passes in two, in no more than two sittings. A driving licence from the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic and at least 3 years of driving experience after getting it
  • Internal: licence for the required vehicle type, 3 years of driving experience after the licence, and 5 years in a primary level unskilled (PL 1) post in SLITA
  • Age: 18 to 45 (no upper limit for internal applicants)
  • Salary: PL 3-2025: Rs. 43,280 – 10 x 490 – 10 x 540 – 10 x 590 – 12 x 630 – 67,040. Basic pay for 2026 is Rs. 40,834 plus allowances
