Overview
The Vavuniya South Sinhala Pradeshiya Sabha is filling 4 Driver Grade III posts on an open basis. Only people who have lived in the Sabha area for at least 5 years can apply. Applications close on 16 November 2026.
Position
- Post: Driver, Grade III (4 vacancies)
- Salary: PL 3-2025, Rs. 42,780 with 10 increments of Rs. 490, 10 of Rs. 540, 10 of Rs. 590 and 12 of Rs. 630, reaching Rs. 66,540
- Age: over 18 and under 45 on the closing date
Duties
Drivers work on garbage collection, waste water removal and water supply. Vehicles include the gully bowser, garbage compactor, tractor, water bowser, three wheeler, van and pick-up.
Qualifications
- Sri Lankan citizen of good character, health and physical fitness.
- Registered resident of the Sabha area for at least 5 years, confirmed by a Grama Niladhari certificate or a Justice of the Peace affidavit.
- Pass 6 subjects at G.C.E. O/L, including Sinhala and mathematics, in no more than 2 sittings, with at least 2 credit passes. At least 5 subjects must be passed in one sitting.
- A heavy vehicle driving licence held for at least 3 years, covering classes A, B, B1, C, C1 and G.
Selection
Selection is by structured interview, marked out of 100: educational qualifications 50 (minimum 20), driving knowledge 25 (minimum 10) and etiquette 25 (minimum 10). Total pass mark is 40.

Applications are accepted from 26 October to 16 November 2026. Put the completed application in an envelope marked “Application for Driver post” on the top left. Send it by registered post or hand it in to: The Secretary, Vavuniya South Sinhala Pradeshiya Sabha, A-09 Road, Irperiyakulam, Vavuniya. It must arrive by 16 November 2026. Any false statement can lead to rejection or dismissal.
