We are looking for a Head of Research to provide strategic insights and data-driven recommendations that will shape the future of our institution.

Role Summary

The Head of Research will be responsible for leading and managing the Bank’s entire research function. This senior role involves conducting strategic economic and market analysis, developing competitor intelligence, and translating complex data into actionable recommendations to support the Bank’s strategic objectives and executive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct high-quality research into macroeconomic trends, industry developments, financial services, customer analytics, and competitive positioning.
• Support strategic planning by delivering data-driven insights, scenario analysis, and forecasts.
• Develop and publish market intelligence reports, economic reviews, and white papers for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with key departments including Product Development, Risk, Credit, and Treasury to ensure research insights are integrated into business operations.
• Monitor and analyze key economic indicators and report on their potential impact on the Bank’s operations and strategy.
• Lead and mentor a team of researchers, ensuring rigorous analytical standards and relevance of research output.
• Represent the Bank in forums, conferences, and meetings involving research, policy, and economic matters.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with academic institutions, think tanks, government bodies, and regulatory agencies.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications

• Nationality: Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
• Education: A Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, Management, or a related field from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka.
• Experience: Minimum of one (01) year’s post-qualifying experience in economic/market research or strategic planning.
• Research Skills: A proven track record of research excellence, including high-quality research publications (preferably in Journal Index of Journal Articles).
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in research tools, data analytics software, business analytics, and statistical software.
• Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Sri Lankan and global economic environments and financial markets.
• Age: Preferably below 45 years as of the application closing date.

What We Offer

• Position Level: The position is on a contract basis and is equivalent to the grade of Assistant General Manager. Performance will be evaluated annually.
• Remuneration: An attractive and negotiable remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience.
