Overview

The University of Moratuwa is taking applications for four Grade III posts: Driver, Mason, Tractor Operator and Security Controller. Applications must reach the University by 16 November 2026. The notice does not state how many vacancies each post has.

Positions and pay

  • Driver (Grade III), U-PL 3 (III): Rs. 48,005 with 16 increments of Rs. 490, up to Rs. 55,845 a month.
  • Mason (Grade III), UPL 3 (III): Rs. 48,005 with 16 increments of Rs. 490, up to Rs. 55,845 a month.
  • Tractor Operator (Grade III), U-PL-2 (III): Rs. 44,575 with 16 increments of Rs. 490, up to Rs. 52,415 a month.
  • Security Controller (Grade III), UPL 1 (III): Rs. 42,775 with 16 increments of Rs. 450, up to Rs. 49,975 a month.

The cost of living allowance and other government-approved allowances are paid on top of the basic salary. Salaries follow Management Services Circular 06/2025 and University Grants Commission Circular 02/2025(i).

Qualifications

Driver

  • A pass in six subjects at G.C.E. O/L in no more than two sittings, with at least two credit passes.
  • A heavy vehicle driving licence issued by the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic, with at least 3 years of driving experience after getting the licence.

Mason

  • An NVQ certificate at Level 4 or above in the relevant field, from a technical or vocational institute recognised by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).

Tractor Operator

  • A pass in six subjects at G.C.E. O/L in no more than two sittings, with at least two credit passes.
  • Either an NVQ certificate at Level 2 or 3 or above in the relevant field from a TVEC-recognised institute, or at least 1 year of work experience in the relevant field.
  • A valid G1 class driving licence issued by the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic.

Security Controller

  • A pass in six subjects at G.C.E. O/L in no more than two sittings, with at least two credit passes.

Conditions for all posts

  • Age 18 to 45.
  • Sri Lankan citizen.
  • Physically and mentally fit to serve in any part of the island on a government appointment.
  • Good character. Attach a police report obtained recently.

Selection

Driver, Mason and Tractor Operator: a trade test and a structured interview. Security Controller: a trade test and/or a structured interview.
