Overview

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura is hiring a Web and Digital Media Officer for its Centre for IT Services, on an assignment basis. The officer maintains about 50 WordPress-based university websites. Online applications close on 2 November 2026.

Pay and period

  • Total value of the assignment: Rs. 1,680,000 for one year
  • All-inclusive monthly allowance of about Rs. 140,000, paid monthly subject to satisfactory performance
  • Initial period of one year, extendable based on performance

Qualifications (either one)

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) in Information Technology, preferably in the Multimedia stream, with at least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Multimedia or a related field

Preference given to applicants with

  • Experience in WordPress multisite administration
  • Knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS and modern web frameworks
  • Experience with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or Figma
  • Knowledge of video editing and multimedia content production
  • Familiarity with SEO, web analytics and social media marketing
  • Understanding of web security and server administration

Duties

  1. Maintain and administer about 50 WordPress-based university websites
  2. Design, develop and deploy new university websites and web applications when required
  3. Create and manage web content, including news articles, announcements and promotional material
  4. Design digital graphics, banners, flyers, infographics and short promotional videos with the Media Unit
  5. Manage website backups, disaster recovery procedures and content archiving
  6. Monitor, maintain and update web technology stacks, plugins, themes and related software
  7. Manage and coordinate social media campaigns and digital marketing activities
  8. Keep websites secure, monitor vulnerabilities and apply security practices
  9. Improve website performance, accessibility and search engine visibility
  10. Give technical support and training to university website content contributors
  11. Produce web analytics reports with recommendations for improving the university’s digital presence
  12. Carry out other duties assigned by the Coordinator, Media Unit, or other authorised university officers
